ILLUMINATIONS
LIST OF INSTALLATIONS
Extended through the end of February, 2021!
Note: The space for Heike Liss' performance has been leased, and we had to take down the work after a 2 month run. CLICK HERE to see a video of the performance!

HEIKE LISS
“Drawing Sound” is a large window drawing and projection. Heike Liss drew on the windows of a vacant storefront while listening to live sound and music performed on-site by Fred Frith. A film of Liss drawing is projected on the window at night.

MOEY NELSON
“Drift” a 25-ft long hanging sculpture with mylar and reflective light, hung in a vacant commercial space near the plaza.

VICTORIA WAGNER
“Color Cathedral” is a spectacular window display of hand- painted translucent Duralar and a color-changing program of lights.

HUGH LIVINGSTON
“Reeds of Invention: an imaginary soundscape and landscape.” A display of reeds of lights and sounds from nature, installed at Harmon House.

JESSICA MARTIN
“When We’re Together” an illuminated kinetic sculpture made of mylar strips hung on a rotating circular frame. It is an ode to 2021 and when we can all be together again.

SKLO
“Tethered” made by local light design company, Sklo, this piece is an arrangement of white glowing glass spheres.

VICTORIA WAGNER
“Prisims and Gold” is a mesmerizing window installation of thousands of refracted, moving golden lights.

ALICE SUTRO
“Downtowners” an animated projection of drawings of local business owners and workers. Projection is 3 stories high.

PHILIP PASQUALINO
“Wonderfloat” is a 22ft-long suspended wire sculpture that slowly rotates. Lights create moving shadows at night.

SOUND ENVIRONMENTS
Light Environments: Four additional light environments, including two light tunnels/hallways, a constellation of lights in an empty storefront, and another large commercial space that has been converted into a snowglobe.

AUDIO TOUR
GPS-based sound tour: Each artist chose a sound, piece of music, or chose to speak briefly about their installation. These audio elements can be accessed by downloading a GPS-based app that automatically plays each accompanying sound as participants walk from one site to the next. Created by Hugh Livingston.

LIGHT TUNNEL
“New Year’s Light” tunnel: A 20ft-long arched tunnel that surrounds the viewer in lights and LED candles. The public will be given free LED candles to add to shelves on the sculpture. Each candle represents wishes for the new year, and allows everyone to create a community light sculpture. Participants are also invited to write down their wish on a card provided, and wishes will be displayed in shop windows.

LINUS LANCASTER
"Presence and Absence" Illuminated figures are installed as a tribute to our resilience and this time when we cannot be physically together.
